Reflecting on two inspiring days at EMA and Erasmus MC
Two members of the Harmony Alliance Foundation, Mireya Morote and Ana Hernández, had the privilege of taking part in the first DARWIN EU® Data Partner Meeting, hosted at Erasmus MC and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on the 12th and 13th November.
As new DARWIN EU® Data Partners—onboarded earlier this year—this meeting marked an important milestone for us. Being part of this network means contributing to one of Europe’s most ambitious efforts in real-world evidence generation to support regulatory decision-making. It has shaped much of the work our team has been driving forward in 2025

🔍 Day 1 at Erasmus MC focused on deep dives into progress across the network: evolution of study topics, mapping terminology, OMOP transformation, procedures, quality-control tools, and analytical pipelines.

🏛️ Day 2 at EMA gave us the opportunity to engage with several EMA representatives, gaining insights into the Agency’s mission and how DARWIN EU® studies are already informing regulatory questions.
With 30 Data Partners across 16 EU countries, providing access to data from 181 million patients, and already 100 studies initiated, DARWIN EU® is delivering the foundation for safer, more effective medicines through high-quality, federated real-world evidence.
For us, connecting in person with such an inspiring and committed community was truly uplifting. Seeing how different partners manage their datasets, map to OMOP, and contribute to high-impact RWE studies reinforces the collective momentum behind this initiative. We also had the opportunity to take a picture with our poster with the metadata characteristics of the HARMONY Platform datasets that are currently available for analysis: AML, MM, CML, and ALL.

✨ At the HARMONY Alliance Foundation, we are proud to be part of this European effort and look forward to continuing our work to deliver powerful evidence that can make a real difference in the lives of blood cancer patients✨
A huge thank-you to the teams at Erasmus MC, EMA, and the DARWIN EU Coordination Centre for the warm welcome and the opportunity to collaborate. Here’s to many more shared learnings, ideas, and progress ahead!
