About Us

The HARMONY Alliance is a European Public–Private Partnership for Big Data in Hematology.

When we started in 2017, the hematology community was embarking on a journey towards embracing data sharing and recognizing the transformative power of big data. HARMONY set a crucial milestone when this endeavor was only starting. By laying the foundation for future collaborations, advancements, and discoveries that would incorporate state-of-the-art technologies in the field of hematology, we are making our contribution to improving the understanding and treatment of blood disorders.

Now, just almost seven years later with 128 partners from 28 countries, we have transformed both the sharing and use of data. We have developed the Big Data Platform with a data lake that already contains over 122,000 patient records. All data is protected using a unique anonymization and security process. In more than 30 research projects, groundbreaking research is being carried out with the help of advanced customized data analytic services, including AI modeling.

Data-driven leap in cancer research

Data-driven

Blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, account for a significant share of cancer cases and deaths, particularly among children. Despite the recent scientific progress, there is still much to do to improve treatment standards and develop personalized therapies.

Ready for the future

The HARMONY Alliance consist of two projects, HARMONY and HARMONY PLUS, both funded through the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI now IHI). The EU grant phase that made this possible will come to an end by March 2024. Thanks to the strong commitment and drive of the multi-stakeholder partners and members involved in HARMONY, we have the unique opportunity to continue our work as a non-profit, collaborative research foundation. This new foundation will build upon the achievements of the HARMONY Alliance and bring hematology research and patient care to the next level.

For patients & carers

A core part of the HARMONY Alliance is its Patient Cluster, which comprises 9 European patient organizations. Each of these organizations represents the blood cancers we are researching. The HARMONY Patient Cluster plays an important role in designing research projects to make sure they reflect the patient's view. Each patient organization also ensures patients within their communities receive the most up-to-date information on HARMONY projects.

#Bigdataforbloodcancer

Each year we are standing by patients with blood cancer and their families during Blood Cancer Awareness Month leading up to the #Bigdataforbloodcancer Awareness Day.

Join us

Our journey started with a focus on the research on 14 blood cancers and recently has expanded to all blood cancers since our goal is to improve the understanding and treatment of blood disorders. In more than 30 research projects, groundbreaking research is being carried out with the help of advanced integrated data services. We continue the data collection, harmonization, data analytics and data-driven research.
